I was complete grossed out by the whole experience and will not be returning to that restaurant ever again. To all chefs out there: there is absolutely no satisfactory explanation if there is a live crawling bug in the food. However, his story about an open door during kitchen cleaning grossed me out entirely as I immediately imagined how all these bugs are crawling from the garbage bins in the back of the restaurant right onto my salad. And maybe I would have believed that his apology was sincere if he didn't try to justify the situation. The chef (or someone from the kitchen) did come out to apologize and offered me to order something else. When mine was brought out, there was a live bug crawling on top of an avocado slice. It took about 20 minutes for the server to finally come to us to take our drink order, and only after flagged down another server and asked for help. It was noon on a weekday so it was still relatively empty. I went to this restaurant for a casual business meeting.
